Global Warming: A Crisis for Arid Regions
On September 18, 2026, Toraighyrov University hosted a public lecture titled “Global Warming: A Crisis for Arid Regions” delivered by Dr. Petr Vladimirovich Bolshanik, Doctor of Geographical Sciences and Professor, representing Omsk State Pedagogical University and Bukhara State University.
The lecture brought together students, faculty members, and everyone interested in geography, environmental studies, and contemporary climate challenges.
During the lecture, Professor Bolshanik discussed the impact of global climate change on arid and semi-arid territories. Particular attention was paid to the environmental and socio-economic challenges faced by regions characterized by limited water resources, increasing temperatures, and growing pressure on natural ecosystems.
The participants explored current trends in climate change and their potential consequences for arid regions, as well as the importance of sustainable approaches to environmental management and adaptation to changing climatic conditions.
The lecture provided students and faculty members with an opportunity to gain insights from an experienced specialist in geographical sciences and to discuss pressing environmental issues affecting different regions of the world.
The event contributed to the development of academic dialogue and strengthened opportunities for cooperation between Toraighyrov University and international academic institutions in the fields of geography, environmental studies, and climate research.
Toraighyrov University continues to support academic exchange and initiatives aimed at broadening students’ knowledge of global challenges and promoting international cooperation in education and research.
