Over the past four academic years, Toraighyrov University has demonstrated a steady positive trend in the growth of the number of international students.

• Academic year 2025–2026 (as of February 4, 2026) – 489 students

This number includes 99 state-funded grants allocated for ethnic Kazakhs at the Foundation Faculty, as well as 4 grants provided within the framework of the Bologna Process (Nigeria, Mongolia, and Bangladesh).

Thus, over two years the number of international students has increased by more than 51.9%, indicating a steadily growing interest among foreign citizens in the region’s educational programs. Currently, students from 18 countries study at the University.

In addition, in accordance with the requirements of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, universities are required to integrate their international admissions systems with the national portal Study in Kazakhstan (link to https://www.studyinkz.kz/ru).

Connection to the portal will provide universities with unified access to tools for attracting international applicants.

FOUNDATION FACULTY

Language Preparation Program

Toraighyrov University offers a Foundation Faculty, designed for international students who wish to improve their Kazakh and Russian language skills before starting their degree programs.

This program helps students adapt academically and culturally before entering undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

DEGREE PROGRAMS IN ENGLISH

The following educational programs are taught entirely in English:

• Oil and Gas Engineering
• Biotechnology
• Translation Studies
• Foreign Philology
• Computer Science

Tuition Fees (2025–2026 Academic Year)

• Bachelor’s programs: from 650,000 KZT (≈ USD 1,260)
• Master’s programs: from 677,600 KZT (≈ USD 1,312)
• Doctoral programs: from 1,456,000 KZT (≈ USD 2,825)

ACCOMMODATION

Student Dormitory

The university provides accommodation for international students in a student dormitory located on campus.

Cost: approximately 14,800 KZT (≈ USD 30) per month

Living on campus allows students to easily access academic buildings, libraries, and student services.

STUDENT VISA & REGULATIONS

Student Visa

International students must obtain a multiple-entry student visa valid for up to one year.

Visa fee for the 2025–2026 academic year: USD 230

Please note: Starting from early 2026, the visa fee may increase due to the rise of the Monthly Calculation Index (MCI) in Kazakhstan.

Employment Restriction

According to the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international students holding a student visa are strictly prohibited from working during their period of study.

MIGRATION REQUIREMENTS

Please note: According to Article 31 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Population Migration”, international students must submit the following documents by email:

• Proof of financial solvency sufficient to cover accommodation expenses (except for ethnic Kazakhs)
• Medical certificates confirming the absence of diseases preventing study (including narcological and psychiatric certificates)
• Valid health insurance issued in Kazakhstan
• Certificate confirming the presence or absence of a criminal record
