Visiting Professors and Guests
Toraighyrov University actively develops international academic cooperation and regularly engages foreign scholars and lecturers in teaching and research activities.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, the University hosted 15 invited foreign specialists who arrived under programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as for the implementation of international academic programs and cooperation projects.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, this number increased to 20 invited foreign specialists participating through the Ministry’s programs and international partnership initiatives.

Visiting Professor Program
(Funded by the State Budget) – 2025
NLC “Toraighyrov University” (TOU) invites applications from distinguished international scholars to participate in the Visiting Professor Program funded by the state budget.
Period of Visit: At least 1 month during 2025 Fall Semester
Format of Engagement: Offline (in-person)
Financial Conditions
The total fee is 1,840,000 KZT per person.
This amount is all-inclusive and covers:
- salary
- accommodation
- flight
- medical insurance
- visa and other related expenses
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Specialists
A foreign specialist must meet the following requirements:
- Be an employee of a university ranked in the TOP 500 of international academic rankings (QS World University Rankings, THE World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities, or QS by Subject in the relevant field), and/or an international research school or laboratory.
- Have at least 5 publications over the past three years in international high-ranking journals indexed in Web of Science or Scopus.
- Hold a Doctor of Science or PhD degree.
- Have not worked with TOU more than 3 times under a similar visiting program.
Preference will be given to:
- Foreign professors working in priority scientific areas: engineering, machine engineering, civil engineering, energetics, natural science, biotechnology, agriculture, and others.
- English-speaking specialists.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Visiting Professors
During the visit, a foreign professor is required to:
- Deliver lectures and practical classes in English totaling at least 45 academic hours over the entire period.
- Publish articles in journals indexed in Web of Science and/or Scopus, with mandatory indication of TOU affiliation and/or co-authorship with TOU faculty.
- Provide co-supervision or consultations to Master’s and/or PhD students for at least 3 hours per week.
- Conduct at least two training sessions and/or seminars for university staff.
- Hold training seminars for young scientists and PhD students (at least one seminar per week).

Contribute to the preparation of at least two scientific articles in:
- journals recommended by the Ministry, and/or
- proceedings of international conferences, and/or
- peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. - Prepare a project proposal with young scientists and/or PhD students for participation in grant programs and international research projects.
- Review scientific and/or research work, as well as educational programs and/or syllabi.
