Toraighyrov University Participates in Horizon Europe Information and Networking Session in Astana

On January 19, 2026, an information and networking session dedicated to the Horizon Europe programme in Kazakhstan was held in Astana at Nazarbayev University. The event was jointly organized by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Commission.

The main objective of the Horizon Europe session was to introduce researchers to current calls within the international grant programme and to provide opportunities for establishing connections with potential academic partners. Such platforms contribute to the development of competitive international projects and strengthen scientific cooperation.

Toraighyrov University was represented at the event by Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor V.A. Kamkin, and Head of the Center for International Cooperation B.K. Akshulakova.

During the session, presentations were delivered by Aliya Sembayeva, Deputy Chair of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Aaro Ilitalo, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan; and Manfred Spiesberger, expert of the European Commission’s Global Service Facility.

Participants discussed key opportunities for involvement in Horizon Europe international project grants, including priority areas, project clusters, working with keywords, funding mechanisms, and essential requirements for preparing successful proposals.
